Research shows that males with higher testosterone levels are less likely to become or remain unemployed.

In a study published in Economics and Human Biology, researchers found that men with higher testosterone levels had a better chance of finding a job and keeping one. The massive, long-term study supported prior findings that testosterone is associated with professional achievement, yet scientists are still unable to pinpoint the exact cause behind this.

It has long been known that men who have a high level of testosterone are more likely to be successful in the workplace and in the social hierarchy of their peers. It is also linked to a variety of cognitive and psychological factors, including aggression, risk-taking, drive, and even numerical ability.

For example, past research has shown that testosterone levels are associated with specific personality qualities (such as risk aversion) and individual behaviour. This makes testosterone a fascinating case to study (e.g., status-seeking and dominant behavior). Characteristics like this have been connected to an individual’s ability to succeed in the workforce before,” Eibich added.

Higher testosterone levels have been linked to greater self-confidence and greater use of the internet in job searches.”

Unemployment is less likely to occur in males with higher levels of testosterone than in men with lower levels of testosterone.
